When the Madness Stops, An Emergency Medical Services Perspective

Chaos puts me at ease like a warm blanket.

I can stand still in madness. Levitate.

I get a rush as my world slows and I cope using the extreme as talent.

It’s home.

It’s a gift to stand still while running towards terror and tragedy.

I’m here to fight. There’s not an ounce of flight in me.

I’m unshakable. Focused. Alive.

My gift saved me and then it paid me.

I made a career of saving others because I couldn’t save myself.

Then it stopped. The chaos left. There was no one to save… except myself.

So, I created chaos and it destroyed me.
